“I can’t help myself! I have no control over this, this evil thing inside of me, the fire, the voices, the torment!”
people on this stupid website need to stop glorifying misanthropy and hostility and anti-social behaviour because like
a lot of people from tumblr pretend like they’re superior to ”real life people” because they choose to refrain from alcohol or partying but like ????? you’re not better than anybody just because you don’t do those things stop acting like you’re in some sort of a special secret cult that nobody understands, people outside of tumblr aren’t ”peasants” or ”muggles” or whatever stupid names you choose to call them, they’re human beings with feelings so stop calling everybody a dickhead and then being one yourself
avoiding everyone and hissing at people that go anywhere near you or speak to you and sitting in a corner sulking and being afraid of the outdoors isn’t ”cool”, it’s unhealthy
i understand if you prefer an introverted lifestyle to partying etc and that’s completely fine, just don’t act like you’re better than somebody for the way you choose to live your life
“I never considered myself a lucky person. I’m the most extraordinary pessimist. I truly am.” - Christopher Nolan
If I were to make a list of the best Americans movies based on the 11 ”American” movies I had seen that would seem really ridiculous since movies across various genres and decades seem almost incomparable since we understand that we can’t use “American movies” as a fixed category
this common sense line of thinking should also apply to ”foreign” films since you just cannot make statements saying x film is the best African or Asian film since you saw the 6 decent movies that netflix has from those regions. Media outside of America cannot be simplified and treated as being monolithic or interchangable. Moreover, when people say things like Asian cinema they only narrow in on Japanese and Chinese movies and use those two (already very diverse) industries as stand-ins for all other film industries in Asia. The very (fetishy and token) appreciation of foreign films is built around celebrating very select movies for the mere appearances of expertise and diversity.
